Introduction
This programme contributes to the development of students understanding, knowledge and skills of citizenship.
It uses the ten co-operative values and principles as its framework.
The resources for the modules are designed to stimulate discussion amongst the learners. They have been designed around a ‘paper-less’ environment using PowerPoint to stimulate discussion and are for non-specialist teachers. They have proved particularly successful when the discussions have been lead by students.
Drawing on real issues from local, national and international events they can be updated or modified according to your local circumstances, current news events or school priorities.
The modules are self contained, do not need to be taught in a specific order and can be used in a range of learning situations e.g.
General Activities - see below - can be used with any of the values, either as an introduction or as an extended project.
Co-operative Survey 1 - see below - has been used to measure students' (teachers') attitudes to co-operative values. It can be used before and after as an evaluation tool.
Co-operative Survey 2 - see below - has been used with both teachers and students to familiarise them with the 10 co-operative values. It is a useful discussion activity to start off work on co-operative values.
